a day of two halfs

I saw a chance at beachy and took it..

The paragliders were high when I arrived, so no drinking tea today, just rigging. I took off on the southerly bowl after the modelers kindly flew off to one side for me… had a great flight in quite odd conditions as orographic cloud formed on the cliffs… keeping contact with Youngie was difficult so we went to opposing ends of the cliffs – the temperature dropped a couple of degrees while I was flying so I landed as I felt there was a risk of these clouds building and obscuring my approach…

it was raining and so, quite reasonably, I started to pack away…

Youngie didn’t…

the sky started to brighten and even look like clearing – so I swallowed my pride and rigged again…

the second flight was a dream – apart from having to scrape my wing along the cliffs for a bit after flying to Birling Gap – the return trip was not as advertised and was clinchingly scratchy – but once at the higher cliffs all was well – phew – the rest of the flight was just beautiful in light so smooth air… sooooo relaxing after all this bad weather..

landing however was interesting as the wind was SW… the bowl was just a huge sink hole – and the approach was now parallel with the road – it took 3 attempts to get down and by the time I did my landing was pants…

I cared not however – what a fantastic day out…
